Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz enjoys a global reputation as one of the world’s leading business law firms. Its deep experience in the fields of mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments, takeovers and takeover defense, corporate and securities law, and corporate governance means that its attorneys regularly handle some of the largest, most complex and demanding transactions in the United States and around the world.
Increasing diversity in the legal profession is a long-standing and important priority for Wachtell Lipton. We are an original signatory to the New York City Bar’s Statement of Goals for Increasing Minority Representation and Retention and was one of the first New York City law firms to offer health benefits to domestic partners. The Firm is committed to recruiting, retaining and developing a diverse and talented body of lawyers considering diversity in its broadest form.
While Wachtell invests heavily in programs that support and grow the diversity pipeline, we understand that simply increasing the number of diverse law students is not enough to build a bigger pipeline; diverse students must also excel academically in law school in order to become the legal profession’s next generation of leaders. The Wachtell Scholars Program allows diverse law students to attend the Law Preview program and receive instruction by some of the country’s leading law professors. We are proud to provide this solid foundation upon which our scholarship recipients can begin their legal studies.
