This one is a no-brainer. Going out to eat is a fast way to burn through cash you don’t have. Especially if that meal is accompanied by alcohol.

Budgeting is never fun, we know. But sticking to a strict budget can mean the difference between adding more to your debt and getting ahead of it. Make a list of your expenses and monthly income and see where you might be overspending. Every month go back to that budget and adjust it as needed until it’s easy to stick to.

Speaking of apps, there are tons of apps out there that can help you save money on everything from groceries to clothing. Try downloading a coupon app on your phone or install the Honey extension to your Chrome browser.
Use Your School’s Resources
When you visit your school on Admitted Student’s Day, make sure to check out the available resources they have on campus. If you’re looking for a new laptop, check to see if your school has any special discounts for students. Also, see if your school has a gym or other health facilities on campus. Working out is a great way to stay healthy and balanced throughout law school.
Buy Used Textbooks
The cost of law school textbooks adds up quick. Don’t be afraid to go online and do your own research instead of purchasing from your school’s bookstore. You might even be able to borrow textbooks from 2L and 3L students you meet at Admitted Student’s Day.
Take Advantage of Free Study Aids
There’s nothing like free stuff, especially as a law student. Swing by your school’s law library to see if they have print or digital supplemental study aids available for free. Some schools also offer study aid subscriptions that can help you save money in the long run.
